Mila is an Assistant Professor working in 3D Land Information. She holds a Ph.D. in 3D modeling in architectural photogrammetry from the University of Architecture, Civil engineering, and Geodesy in Sofia. She also holds an MSc. degrees in Engineering (Geodesy) from the same institution obtained in 2001.

Her professional career began at the GIS-Sofia Ltd. - a Municipality Company dealing with cadastre of the city of Sofia, firstly as a specialist in Photogrammetry, and later on, becoming a Head of the department. Working there she took part in various projects using a number of professional GIS and photogrammetric software products (ARCGIS/PHOTOMOD/ERDAS) mainly for map creation, orthophoto production, and 3D modeling. She has experience in aerial and satellite image processing including aerial triangulation, DTM generation, topographic feature extraction, and texture mapping. Some of her activities were to coordinate all flight activities over the territory of the city of Sofia with foreign companies that own the required equipment.

In 2012 her career development continued in a private company -  Mapex Jsc. as a Project manager. Her daily task was to apply a multidisciplinary approach while organizing and coordinating projects between the departments in the company.

Later she moved to the University of Twente at the faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) where she was teaching topics of Photogrammetry and Remote sensings like Image processing, DTM, Orthophoto creation, GPS, and 3D modeling. From the University of Twente, she holds a university teaching qualification (UTQ).

Her main areas of expertise include 3D land Information including Digital Twins and 3D Cadastre, image data acquisition and processing techniques (satellite, aerial, and UAVs), and automatic feature extraction for cadastral mapping and urban planning among others. In March 2017 she was ranked as one of the TOP 3 teachers of ITC 2016 - 2017.

She is also guest editor of the Special issue “Remote Sensing for Land Administration 2.”; Co-chair of ISPRS WGIV/10; Reviewer Board of ISPRS IJGI and Geomatics

From April 2017 she is Project Coordinator of its4land, a multidisciplinary European Commission Horizon 2020 project, involving 8 academic and private-sector partners and 6 countries in Europe and Africa - www.its4land.com.
